BMW Performance Driving School Thermal, CA
At BMW I’m one of the 3 full time instructors that teach all the different driving schools they have. I’ve been certified by BMW in Germany as a Level 2 instructor which means I’m qualified to teach for them anywhere in the world. I’m also qualified to teach their internal licensing programs. I’ve led anything from 1 on 1 private instruction to 1500 people groups and everything in between. I’ve helped develop different driving exercises and curriculums for new programs.

At Miller I worked the different racing school programs as an instructor including the Mustang programs, Raptor programs, Boss 302 programs, and Michelin LT off road programs. I was a lead instructor on the Michelin LT program overseeing the pavement part of the program and the trail drive.

I worked at the Toyota World Convention for The Driving Connection. I worked the Hybrid Challenge for them as a Right Seater and helped with running through the event as practice for the event.

At PDI I was a Pro Driver for in dealer training programs for Nissan. For the programs I worked my duties included anything from right seating to facilitating a class on the Navigation system to handling logistics for myself and the other Pro Driver.

At AMCI I did ride and drive events for Toyota, Lincoln and Kia. My duties were learning the products well enough to present them in a way people get an understanding of what advantages the vehicle had over its competition and to leave them with a good impression of the vehicle. I did some Pro Driver stuff with Toyota demonstrating their active safety systems. I’ve also helped with setting up and tearing down the events.

At Skip Barber I taught: new driver schools, 1 and 2 day high performance schools, advanced car control clinics, 3 day racing schools in both the formula cars and MX5 Cup cars, and other misc programs as needed.

At Spring Mountain I taught Corvette driving schools, Lotus driving schools and Radical driving schools. I’ve also given rides in Radicals for media events. I was the karting manager on top of my instructing duties.

At Apex I taught karting, built and maintained karts, and tuned and coached for the race team. We had multiple podium finishes in the Gator series and other series with me as the tuner.

At KRC I taught all the racing schools including shifter karts, and formula cars. I was the chief instructor. I also built and set-up Van Diemen race cars for the school, taught Adam Sandler, Rob Schnieder, and the American Hot Rod crew to race go-karts and shifter karts.

Coached drivers one-on-one ages 8-40+. Junior One student won LAKC Championship in 1997 and 1998, finished 3rd at his first time at the Grand Nationals and had many wins. Most students have won at least one race and all have shown major improvements.

Spent one year as an Assistant Instructor. Received training as an Instructor, setting up and tearing down exercises, driving lead/follows, helping students size for cars. Ran timing for school. Worked corporate karting events as an instructor. Completed Techniques of Racing Course, Advanced Racing Course, and Oval Racing School.
Racing Accomplishments
Raced the first 4 races of the EXR PRO/AM series in 2017 competing against drivers like Alex Premat, Tristan Vautier and others. Won 2 out of the 4 races and finished 2nd in another.
Made it to the finals for GT Academy finishing in the top 12 out of 400,000+. This got me on to the TV
show which aired on SPIKE TV starting Nov 11th 2013. I ended up finishing 2nd in the competition.
Rallying - placed 2nd in class on day one at Ramada Express Rally at Laughlin, NV, in 2005.

Kart racing - (2006) Won the Cal-State Championships in the Rotax class. 2nd in points in IKF Region 7 Southwest Super Series in TAG Light class on borrowed equipment. Track record holder at Jim Hall Kart track, beating Patrick Long’s (currently factory Porsche driver) track record. My record stood for over a year after I stopped working there. 2006 California State Champion Rotax class. 2007 qualified 4th for the Grange round of the Gators series with no practice. 2008 raced as sponsored driver for KSS racing for 2 rounds of the IKF region 7 series in HPV. Set fastest time in HPV-3 with a stock engine and finished 5th in HPV 4 after last lap incident knocked me back 2 spots at buffalo bills.
In 2010 I came in 2nd in the 2010 Kart driver search against some up and coming Karters.
Raced karts from 1995 to 2000. Won 12 races. Placed 2nd in 3 championships (IKF, LAKC, Gold Coast) in 1999. Placed 5th in Gold Coast Championship in first year (1995). Placed 3rd in 5 championships. Had numerous podium finishes. Won 3rd place in KT-Medium in 2000 Cal-State Championship.
Jim Russell MTP Championship Series - won all five races of series and won championship. Won seven pole positions in eleven races and had podium finishes in nine of the eleven races.
